Frequently asked questions about Magic: The Gathering

Everything you need to know before buying or selling magic: the gathering on Blisterr.

  • The Reserved List: what is it, and why is it so expensive?
In 1996 Wizards promised to NEVER reprint the cards on the Reserved List (Black Lotus, dual lands, the Power 9, and so on). The result: their value only goes up. An Alpha Black Lotus in PSA 8 now clears £450,000.
  • Modern, Commander, Legacy: which format drives value?
Commander (EDH) is the most-played format — it pushes prices up on key cards (foil Sol Ring, Mana Crypt, and friends). Modern supports staples like Force of Negation and Wrenn and Six. Legacy/Vintage leans on the Reserved List, so those pieces are nearly out of reach.
  • Foil vs non-foil: how much does it change the value?
Foil multiplies the price 2 to 5× on modern staples, and 10× or more on older cards (Modern Masters foils, old border, and so on). Watch out for foil curl: a bowed foil loses a lot of value and gradeability.
  • What are the Blisterr fees for buying Magic?
You pay the listed price + a buyer service fee + shipping. On the seller side, Blisterr charges 0% commission — they keep 100% of the sale price. The full fee breakdown is in the FAQ.
  • Singles vs sealed: which is better for collecting?
Singles to play and to collect the iconic pieces. Sealed (booster boxes, collector boxes) to speculate long-term — older boxes (Modern Masters, Time Spiral, and so on) have gained 30–100% a year over the past five years.

About Magic: The Gathering on Blisterr

Magic: The Gathering (MTG) is the senior of TCGs since 1993. Published by Wizards of the Coast (Hasbro group), MTG combines a highly structured competitive scene (Pro Tour, Mythic Championships, MTG Arena) and one of the most mature secondary collector markets in the world, with Alpha and Beta vintage cards worth tens of thousands of euros.

On Blisterr, the MTG market is segmented by game format and rarity tier: Commander (the most-played format — Sol Ring, Dockside Extortionist, Mana Crypt staples), Modern and Legacy (Tarmogoyf, Force of Will, Underground Sea tournament cards), Vintage (mythic Black Lotus, Mox Diamond, Time Walk from the Reserved List). You also find Secret Lairs (limited Wizards-direct collector drops) and premium foils (Mythic Edition, Borderless, Showcase).

The Reserved List deserves special attention: these cards will never be reprinted, making them structurally rare assets. Reserved List Dual Lands tripled in five years. On Blisterr, you access this market with the guarantee of verified sellers and 30-day buyer protection — valuable on raw cards where PSA/BGS grading is less prevalent than in Pokémon.

For cards above €500, prefer sellers with documented MTG sale history and demand at least 4 photos (front, back, holo under angle, corners). Blisterr accepts payments by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and wallet, all processed by Stripe.
