The silent auction

Sealed bids, maximum tension

Every buyer submits their best price without knowing what others are offering. When the countdown ends, the highest bidder wins. The format for strategic buyers who do not want to reveal their budget.

How the silent auction works

Blisterr's sealed format: you see the item, you submit your price, no one else sees it.

  1. The seller launches the silent auction

A verified seller lists the item with a starting price and a duration. Everyone sees the auction, but no one sees the others' bids.

  2. You place your best bid

Submit the maximum price you are willing to pay. You can adjust it upward, but you will not know where the others stand.

  3. Bids stay hidden

Only the seller and each bidder (for their own offer) have visibility. For other buyers and the public, amounts are masked.

  4. The highest bidder wins

When the countdown ends, the highest offer wins. Payment is automatic, the parcel tracked all the way to your door.

Why pick the silent auction

You reveal nothing

Your budget stays your secret. No intimidation tactics possible — everyone plays their own hand.

Single decision

No reactive outbidding, no emotional duel: you submit once (or adjust upward), and that is it.

For coveted pieces

Ideal when multiple serious buyers are on the same piece and you want to avoid an open bidding war.

No last-second race

Since no one sees the live score, last-second sniping has no strategic advantage. You win on value, not on timing.

Frequently asked questions about the silent auction

  • Who can see my bid?
You (your own bid), the seller, and the algorithm that determines the winner. Other buyers and the public see neither your amount nor your identity.
  • Can I increase my bid mid-auction?
Yes. You can adjust your bid upward as long as the auction has not ended. You cannot lower it.
  • What happens in case of a tie?
If amounts are identical, the bid placed first wins — an advantage for early deciders.
  • What are the fees in silent auction?
Same as every Blisterr format. Full fee details are in the FAQ.
